EDDA’S VISION

My vision is to create a roleplaying setting for you, that combines character-driven and improvisational roleplay with creative problem solving and exploration, in an emergent style. Let your heroes find hope and fight against to tyranny in a broken world inspired by Norse mythology.

My goal is to turn Edda into at least one beautiful roleplaying book, with inspiring art on every spread.

A LIST OF DREAMS

  • Character creation with focus on pre-written personality descriptions
  • A relationship-building tool for the party, based on the three Norns. A shared past, a present problem, and a prophecy.
  • A world map of what is left of Midgard. As if someone hit the Nordic region with a big hammer and the land split apart, forming new islands and oceans.
  • A campaign setting for Midgard.
  • A campaign setting beyond the edge of Midgard, for those who dare travel into Ginnungagap.

WHY NORSE MYTHOLOGY?

My inspiration comes from cultural curiosity. Over a thousand years ago, people where I live created stories about the Aesir and the Jotuns. These stories shaped how future generations understood the world, and they continue to fascinate me today. Norse mythology also runs deep in the roots of modern storytelling and fantasy. Tolkien drew heavily from it when creating Middle-earth, which went on to influence generations of fantasy stories and roleplaying games. With Edda, I’m going straight to the source.

ABOUT ME

I’m Halfdan, I live in Copenhagen and am educated as a design engineer. I work with democratic education, facilitation and event management in a national student union. For the last nine years I have spent most of my spare time organising immersive roleplay events in the Nordic larp community.

Tabletop is one of my favourite hobbies, and I even worked at an afterschool program as a GM for some time. I am excited to play in any system. I mostly enjoy running games using simple systems, but at the right table I am not afraid to get crunchy.
